Provide Advanced First Aid – HLTAID014
HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid is a nationally recognised course for individuals who may be required to provide an advanced first aid response in community or workplace settings. It equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to manage serious injuries and medical emergencies in line with guidelines from the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other peak clinical bodies.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- Perform advanced resuscitation techniques and use specialised equipment
- Provide CPR and use an AED on adults, children, and infants
- Assess and manage serious injuries, including spinal injuries, head trauma, and fractures
- Administer medications as part of a first aid response
- Conduct comprehensive primary and secondary casualty surveys
- Apply advanced infection control measures
- Coordinate and manage a first aid response as part of a team
- Understand legal, ethical, and workplace considerations in advanced first aid
Units Included:
- HLTAID014 – Provide Advanced First Aid: Advanced first aid response skills
- HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid: Core first aid knowledge for adults, children, and infants
- HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support: Foundational emergency life support techniques
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): CPR skills following ARC guidelines
Certification:
On successful completion, participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for all four units, valid for 3 years, with HLTAID009 (CPR) requiring annual refreshers.
This comprehensive training ensures participants are fully prepared to respond confidently and effectively to medical emergencies in both community and workplace environments.
