In this advanced course, you will explore the complexities of epilepsy, including how it affects people living with disability. You’ll learn to identify the various types of seizures and understand how they present, along with their physical, emotional, and social impacts. The course also covers how to minimise risk, promote safety, and respond with appropriate first aid measures.

A key component of this training focuses on the use of Midazolam, now recognised as the first-line emergency treatment for prolonged or cluster seizures. You will learn how to safely administer Midazolam via buccal and intranasal routes, understand when it is appropriate to use, and become familiar with potential side effects and complications.

This course builds on foundational knowledge of Seizure Management and advances your competence in emergency response, seizure documentation, and interpreting Epilepsy Management Plans (EMP). Through interactive learning, practical scenarios, and real-world guidance, you will gain the confidence to take timely, informed action during seizure events.
