This is a Nationally Recognised course. Code is HLTAID009 PROVIDE Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
There are no pre-requisites for this course, which means that you don’t need any other course qualification to enrol.
This qualification is valid for one (1) year from the date of issue. It costs $60.00 per participant.
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
Healthcorp RTO ID Number 91222 is responsible for issuing the Statement of Attainment for this unit.

About This Course
The course is a single practical session that is offered as either:
(a) a full course for people unfamiliar with the content, and
(b) a shortened or express format, for people that have learned CPR many times before.
CPR Update Training (HLTAID009)
This is a nationally accredited course HLTAID009 Provide CPR
The course is made up of a single 3.0-hour practical session.
You will learn CPR on infant, child and adult sized manikins.
The skills and knowledge described here relate specifically to performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and do NOT address other aspects of resuscitation, life support or first aid.
EXPRESS Perform CPR (2 hour Express)
If you know first aid and complete courses regularly we will assess you, not train you, in our Express version of the Provide CPR course.
This course provides a Statement of Attainment in HLTAID009 Provide CPR, however the course is shortened to save time for those people already familiar with the course content. The course is 2 hour in duration, which saves 1.0 hours compared to the full course delivered to those that have never learned CPR or first aid before.
Proof of previous course is required – and workbook completed in session.
Requirements & Prerequisites
Course requirements
There are no prerequisite qualification or certification requirements for this course.
Physical requirements
Please note that there are often physical standards which relate to the level and extent of physical performance required when undertaking accredited training. There is a requirement to be able to physically perform unterrupted CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult manikan placed on the floor. There are no exceptions to this requirement written in the National training package. Please discuss with us if this is a concern.
- Physical ability for each course, (Reasonable adjustment mandates that for first aid, all participants MUST be able to perform all scenarios as written without any adjustment for physical infirmity, See specific instructions from the Industry Skills Council on our ability to modify the assessment to meet the needs of those with special needs, this is often called “Reasonable Adjustment” specifically, we have been advised in the HLT First Aid Guide Version 2 March 2018, ( available from https://vetnet.education.gov.au/Pages/TrainingDocs.aspx?q=ced1390f-48d9-4ab0-bd50-b015e5485705 )
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LNN)
In order to meet competency for this unit, you will be required to meet the minimum LLN requirements of the Training Package.
Course is conducted in English.
If you are under 18 years of age
A parental/guardian consent must be obtained for any student under the age of 18 to be able to participate in this course.
Unique Student Identifier (USI)
To be able to complete any vocational education course in Australia you must obtain and provide us with a USI. This is obtainable from usi.gov.au. We are unable to supply a course certificate without this.

What will be Covered in the COURSE:
Becoming familiar with these adult / Child CPR instructions will help you in performing CPR on adults/Child/Infant using the correct procedures.
We will cover your legal, workplace and community considerations, Duty of care and State/territory Regulations
Basic Anatomy
Adult CPR: At least 2 Minutes uninterrupted single rescuer CPR ( 5 Cycles of both Compressions and Breaths) on the floor.
Infant CPR: At least 2 Minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on an infant on a firm surface.
Defibrillation – Following the prompts to place and use a defibrillator
Infection control precautions – use of face shield and mask.
Reporting and calling Emergency services
Demonstration of Safe manual handling while moving casualties
Recovery Position and care of the unconscious casualty.
CPR is a simple skill that may help you save someone’s life. It happens every day, but more often the life is lost because bystanders have not been trained in effective adult CPR which includes compressions and breaths.
This course generally runs from Mon 9-11AM, Wed 5PM – 7PM, Fri 9-11AM & Sat 9-11AM.
